grandparents needing help: our granddaughter is in foster care

we have recently found out that our granddaughter is in foster care and we wish to have her come live with us. We are concerned for safety and well being abd feel she should be with people she knows. Her dad resides in calgary right at the moment and we live in prince albert, saskatchewan. We want t know how to go about getting herr to our home so we can care for her. We haven't seen her for 3 years so she maybe be unfamiliar with us for a while. She is now 6yrs old. Her mother doesn't want her and neither do her other grandparents, but we do. I work out of my home and there is a school 3 blocks away from us so to me its a win win situation. We most anxiouls to see her again and so is her Dad. Is there anything we can do? Please advise us in this matter. thank-you.

dad is first in line for custody. his rights are superior to yours.you can certainly file for custody, but if dad wants the child with him, unless he is proven unfit, he will get it
