Legal Guardianship of a minor in another state
I am about to turn 18 and a friend of mine is in a horrible situation she is living with her druggie mother and taking care of her sister's child, while her sister is in jail. I want to have her move to my house and live with me. She is 15 and she lives in Wisconsin and I live in Minnesota and the only thing stopping her from living here is me worrying (as I rightly should) about guardianship issues. I'm afraid if I take her in without first obtaining guardianship, I will be subject to criminal charges (i.e. kidnapping) should her mother decide to press charges. I am in no way related to her (direct or otherwise) so I am in no way entitled to custody of her. Is there any way I can obtain guardianship and have her move in with me legally?

I wish to inform you that your friend cannot move with you. At present your friend is a minor and thus her parents can refuse to allow her to live with you. If minor rights are getting affected then you may inform Child Protection Agency. After your friend turns 18 years then she can move with you.
