Question The lawer ran off with my money?

I was recently awarded ajudgement in a child support case. my ex's lawyer was supposed to send a check to my lawyer that would then be forwarded to me. This was supposed to happen within 7 days of the court order. After about ten days I called my lawyer to see what was happening. He told me that he talked to my ex's lawyer and she told him the check was in the mail. Guess what, no check. I talked to my lawyer again and he said I should try to contact my ex's lawyer and get the check personally. After many unreturned phone calls I left her a message saying that I was going to report her to the state bar. She called me after that and said the check must have been lost in the mail and that she would check it out. She seemed very cooperative. The next day she called and left me a message that the check had been intercepted and somebody tried to cash it at one of those check cashing places but were denied. She also said she would stop payment and the bank could not re- issue the funds for ten days. She asked me if I wanted her to mail me the check in ten days. I told her I would call her in ten days and we could arrange to meet and she could give me the check personally. I called her in ten days and I received no call back for maybe a week. I called my lawyer again and after a little investigating he informed me that she had gone on vacation. It seems that she never returned from vacation and now all of her phone numbers have been disconnected. My lawyer doesn't even do family law anymore and has been helping me since the judgment for free. I do not have money to hire anybody else. Does anybody know what can be done about this?

File a police report for theft and report it to the state bar,

World Law's lawyers could also probably help resolve this if need be. You may email them on the home page.
