Dead Beat Dad

HI, I have a 6 1/2 year old son. His father has not been around since I have had him. He has showed up 3 time in the middle of the night when my son was under a year old, drunk as can be. He has not made any support payments, nor has ever tried to visit. I have given my address to him and my phone number to him each time I have moved since birth in hopes he would come around, but he has not. I have recently gotten married to a wonderful man who is wanting to adopt my son. I have no clue where the father lives now, and his parents will notgive me an address or number. How do I go about having my husband adopt my son and changing his last name to ours?

You may file for adoption with your local court but the father will need to be loacted and consent normally. Or you have to show he cannot possibly be found.
