Hi, i left England for USA to stay with my fiance however after 3months of living together, i broke up with him cause I found out he had a wife and a child back in Africa. Then i returned back to England but before doing so i realize i felt pregnant and let him know. He only made contact once when i was 7 months pregnant and since then he stop making contact for no reason. My parents contacted him in USA to inform him that i had gave birth and still he refused to take any responsibility. My baby is now 6 months and i am struggling financially,am not working.. and I know he is financially very comfortable. I would like to know if it is possible to apply for child support since my baby father live in America and baby and i live in UK? thanks

I wish to inform you that you may claim child support only after paternity is established. At present parents of the child are not married therefore it is necessary to establish paternity. You may have child support orders through court of UK and can enforce through Hague Convention in USA. Under Hague Convention child support orders of UK can be enforced in USA but however it is necessary to prove paternity.

He stopped contacting you for no reason? It would appear he has plenty of reason. A woman trying to trap him with a child that may not even be his. He's married. That reason alone would be a good reason don't you think? Get a job. You brought the child into the world. It's your responsibility to financially support it. You had plenty of opportunity to either not get pregnant, abort, or adopt the child out. You chose to keep the child. That's your problem, not anyone else's. |

thank you AFFA for your constructive and helpful advise. How is it possible to establish the paternity since we both live in different country and is it possile to enforce it?

You chat a lots of nonsense but you right for one thing it is MY responsibility to take care of my baby ONLY if he files in court that he doesnt wanna take any responsibility of his child, therefore i know in future he cannot come back and ask for visitation.
