Confused Voluntary Paternity says 99.99% i am dad

California. Recently found that i am the father of a 2yr. old son. The man whose name is on the birth certificate is who has been caring for the child. And is getting aid from the state. What can I do to get custody of my child?

In California the best interest of the child is what the court most consider while making their decision in child custody. Court prefers to give custody to the parent who can be with the child most. Moreover the person whose name is on the certificate will have absolute right on the child. Most likely you would get only visitation rights. It's because it is child's best interest to know his father.
