If you are paying support, you have to go to the court and file yourself to have it stopped. Until you do this, you will continue to owe it to the mother and she will take it because you know how greedy they are!

Read your court order. If it has any stipulations about college, then child support may not necessarily automatically end once the child turns 18.

Most of the time college isn't a mandatory child support order. Like the previous poster said, read your court order.

Child support orders are governed by the order itself, by statute and by any written agreement that you may have had with your ex-spouse. As to when child support stops you should look at your states statutes that governs this issue. Overall, reaching 18 or majority is often a time at which it stops some states however have declared that it stops after they graduate from high school. You have to look at the statute to know the answer. Hope this helps
