Default Non-Custodial Parent Only Takes 1 of 3 Children...

For the last two visitations, the Non-Custodial parent has refused to take the youngest two children. The children are 4, 6 and 9 years old. This is creating problems with each of the children for different reasons.

He has made it clear that he has no intentions of taking the youngest two children, because they are "too much trouble".

Does anyone here have any advice on what to do? I have never heard of such a case, only taking them all or not taking any.

Thank you very much in advance.

You can not force a parent to exercise their access rights. If you did they may take it out on the children.

I know it is hard on your youngest children, You can ask him to modify his access for those children legally and this might make thing easier in the future. At some point after being left out of visits with dad your ex might just say "OK I'm ready now" and you would have to send your children at that time unless you had the access changed.

Don't keep the children from their father but think long term and how it will effect them when dad suddenly says I will see them now!

A possible change in access could be: If it is truely to hard for the father to take all three, suggest that he take each one seperately and only take the younger children for a shorter time period. If you are trying to keep a relationship going between the children and their father this may be an option. I wouldn't force him to take all three at one time if he has openly admitted to you he can't handle it. Good luck.
