My husband and his ex wife have a 3 year old child together. He is a soldier in the U.S. Army and has been given orders to PCS to Fort Bliss, Texas (El Paso). He will be seeking out of state visitation. Is it likely, in the state of NY that he will be granted this request? He pays 20% child support every month, which is more than the 17% for one child in NYS. His ex wife's attorney is trying to pose that the out of state visitation will be traumatic for the child. I grew up in a military household where we picked up and moved every two years...I would think sheltering and keeping a child on lock down without the advantage of travelling or the most important part of a relationship with her father would be more traumatic in the long run. Please advise.

The judge will normally try to work out some kind of visitation and will allow some travel --
