Default help in China and my passport has been confiscated!

ISOUTH CAROLINA: 'll try to keep this brief, I am a female 51 years old. Ten years ago my daughter (14) at the time accused me of child abuse in order to get more freedom and be with her 21 year old boyfriend. South Carolina DSS destroyed my life, I took drug tests and pee tests and psych tests and everything you can think of.

After two years the charges were finally dropped citing excessive reasonable doubt, (this after the child in question accused her DSS Caretakers of abuse as well)

Flash forward to 2009, I am in China, working, I just make ends meet, but it's better than being in the US for me, where I Still have a criminal record, (even though charges were dropped, they're still findable.) I went into the US consulate today to have pages added to my passport and they have confiscated it citing a child support hold.

They have no additional information to give me, just telling me to go back to my home state and find out. I did a records search in Charleston and came up with the following:

08/14/2007 ORDER ORDER FOR D/M O/G(JLM)

08/13/2001 AFFS AFFIDAVIT OF SERVICE

08/06/2001 CERTM CERTIFICATE OF MAILING

07/24/2001 JACT J SEE ADMIN ORDER DEFAULT RE: DSS FOSTER CARE RE: my name is here

07/24/2001 JAMT J JDGMT IN THE AMOUNT OF 0.01 RE: MY NAME is here

Is there anyone who is legally savvy who can tell me what that first line might mean, apparently something happened in 2007 that I am unaware of, I am fully aware that all charges were dropped and I even got permission from the court to leave the country DURING the time where the charges hadn't been dropped, then I recall the judgement of .01 which I was told would be my full child support obligation, and suddenly, nearly ten years later, I am 5000 miles from home without a passport, which is china is a VERY bad thing, and can't get anyone in Charleston to talk to me, after making some very expensive phone calls, the case is so old they don't know who to connect me too,,, I am sick about this, living this nightmare again, if anyone has any advice or ANY idea what that 2007 entry refers too, I would appreciate it, as it will be a long sleepless night for me.

sorry I should tell you that I am/was a single parent and that at the conclusion of the child abuse case my daughter decided that she would prefer emancipation to coming to live with me in London (at the time, ) now in china. Sorry about the second post I'm stressed and the US embassy is no help at all, telling me I need to clear this with Charleston, and I just am trying to figure out what could have happened in 2007 before I give up hope that this is some kind of mistake.

You should contact the child support agency. I'd suggest you research ways to make cheaper calls. Why did you take your passport in? Did you need it to travel somewhere? When you owe child support and don't pay they can take your license, freeze your passport, revoke professional licenses (I think they can still do this) and throw you in jail. So...it's probably not a mistake.
