Hi Everyone,
Was hoping that someone could help me out here? After lengthy (and very expensive) court proceedings, I have joint legal custody (province of Ontario) of my 17 month old son. Because of my son's age, my weekend overnight visits were set at Fridays only for 6 months, to be extended to the entire weekend once the new year arrived. The only catch to this was that the time would not extend if a parenting co-ordinator submitted a written reccomendation to the court that it was not in his "best interests." Up until a couple of weeks ago, things had been completely fine. However, the set of expectations from both of us as parents are very one-sided and my sons' mother does not seem to like it when I actually have an opinion. I informed her that I was concerned about something, got yelled/sworn at, hung up on etc. and she has now demanded that we meet with a parenting co-ordinator. I have no problem doing this as I think it will be rather eye-opening for her. However, she is trying to tell me that the cost of this will be proporionate to our incomes. I'm struggling to understand how a parenting co-ordinator would be classified as Section 7 expenses? Has anyone had any experience with this? I have a very good job and make quite a bit of money every year. As a result, I am paying a very high amount of child support on a monthly basis; always on time, never miss a payment etc. In the last several months, I have had my sons' mother ask me for $20 dollars for a pair of shoes that she bought, money towards his haircut and a whole pile of other things that would be classified as "day-to-day" expenses and covered by my child support. I honestly feel that she is taking every opportunity she can to try and get an extra 10-20 dollars out of me; it's rather sad. With that being said, she also requests that I purchase and provide all diapers to our daycare provider. Would diapers not be considered "day-to-day" expenses? Even if they're for the daycare provider? I should not have to contribute to these on top of paying child support, correct? Can someone help? |

You should only have to buy diapers on your time. You shouldn't have to share any day to day expenses unless they were specified shared. The parenting coodinator may need to be shared. Don't go in there too cocky though...or it may bite you in the butt. Be humble and honest.
