Default child support

massachusets

I am married to a doctor with dual citizenship, Serbian and USA. We have one child that was born in Boston, USA. I am not a USA citizen. We have problems in a marriage, and considering divorce. I returned with our child back to Serbia. If divorce is finalized in Serbia, is he obligated to pay child support, and how to proceed as he lives and work in Boston? Can he somehow avoid child support being that child is not in USA? Please advice. Sincerely, Ceca

If you have an attorney where you are at, you should ask him/her. There is an international ask an attorney section here and they may help. Your serbian social services or child support agency (don't know what it would be called) would also likely be able to answer this. I feel it is likely that he will be required to pay child support.
