Default What if he lost his job and he was paying for support and insurence?

What happens when my bf were to lose his job and can't pay for child support for the meantime. What are the steps he need to take to handle his existing child support payment and when the children health insurance was covered with his job?

Did he lose his job or will he? I think he needs to go to the child support agency and talk to them. He may be able to get a temporary modification. If he is going to lose his job...he best start looking now. They won't eliminate child support and he will start going into arrears if he can't pay.

Yes and if the mother is typical, she will promptly report his arrearage.

If he is in imminent danger of losing his job, his best move is to ask for his child support to be adjusted. They will probably not adjust it much lower than it is already, but he needs to get on the ball now. It won't be pretty if he allows himself to fall too far behind.

I don't think they'll adjust until his income changes.

Custodial parents don't report arrearages. Payments go "through the system". The system reports arrearages.

Untrue. Custodial parents do report it.

My friend pays support directly to his child's mother. He fell behind. She reported him to "the system".

Most states REQUIRE child support to go through the system. Mine does. I wasn't aware there were any that didn't have that requirement anymore.
