Then I wouldn't file it if I were you. Men who want nothing to do with their child that get hit with child support will usually follow up filing for custody because it pi$$es them off so bad. Then you'll end up with legal bills almost as high as what you would have recieved with child support. I know it's hard...and expensive to raise kids. Good luck.

But...there are state calculators where you can input your information and get estimates of what you will recieve if you file for child support. It's not his decision nor yours how much he will pay. Unless he quits his job and works for cash to avoid paying....

google your "state name" child support calculator

He doesn't lose access to his children because of absense. Is this to punish him (hence punishing your children)?

Why is he absent? Military or job? Does he live far away?

I suppose you can deny him access to YOU, but the kids are HIS too. Do you want your kids to think YOU were a contributing factor to them not seeing their father? If he isn't around much, why in the heck would you want to do even more to keep them apart. Let the kids learn on their own how much their daddy cares. They will see what he is about if YOU don't interfere, otherwise YOU will get the blame because he will (and he should) let them know why he hadn't seen them until they were 18 years old, MOMMY.
