ohio- my son just got served with child support papers after 2 weeks ago finding out he is a dad. The girl keep telling him she was pregnant over a 1 year period and he didn't believe her. She sent him letters stating this while he was in basic training. When he finished tech school he found out she was pregnant but wasn't sure it was his. After the baby was born he was ordered to have a dna test which he complied. The mother cancelled the case shortly after. 3-4 months went by and one day she called and said she had proof that he was a dad. So, my son immediately starting seeing and helping out with the child. He missed one day and the mother now refuses to let him see the child and says that he is the worst dad and she wishes that he wasn't her babies daddy. Wants him to sign his rights away but yet still pay child support. Is there anything he can do or any place he can go to file custody papers asking for joint custody. He wants to be actively involved in the childs life. He is 20 year old serving in the military stationed in ohio and is trying to buy a house to make a home for his child. any advise for my son would be greatly appreciated. He is contacted several attorneys but they are so expensive.

Advice - DNA test, then child support and parenting time. Get a lawyer - and don't accept to paying child support until DNA proves without a doubt.

it's important to suck it up financially and use an attorney now to protect his future with his child. IF its not done right the first time, it can create problems later.
She cannot make him sign over his parental rights, and actually in a custody hearing , it can help his chances of joint custody by being the parent that will work to make sure BOTH parents are involved in the child's life.

Yes, DNA and an attorney. However, speaking from experience, being in the military may hurt him some. Advise him to talk to his First Sergeant and maybe seek some legal advice from the base Judge Advocates office. It is free and they can help him get in the right direction.
