Help me please: I am soon to be dad; my ex wants nothing to do with me

I am a soon to be dad and my ex now wants nothing to do with me. i have tried to have contact but she will not talk to me. she does not want me to have anything to do with our kid. she doesnt even want me there for the birth. she said she doesnt want me on the birth certificate. can she do that. I want more than anything to be involved but this is killing me. what can i do. if you can help me pls send me an email at ricky1252@ymail.com

yes, you need a lawyer. Im guessing by the way she is acting you both are younger. You will need to request a DNA test to establish paternity, then you can file with court for custody/visitation once that is confirmed. You will be responsible for the child support that is established. And if she knowingly does not put you on the birth certificate, you can petition through the court to be on there, after paternity test. Keep a journal, the more she excludes you, the better your argument for more time with your child.

You are right. The courts now reward high conflict parents with "shared parenting" to make things even worse. I don't get it...but it's true.

How do a file for a petition, and how do i get a paternity test i am new to this all and have no idea what alot of this stuff means.

You really should go through an attorney to do it right. DNA test obviously wont occur until after child is born. Do not let her put this part off, because you are not married and she has sole custody and decision making rights until you are legally established as Father.
