Child support from U.S.A. to P.I.

I live in the Philippines. My daughter is now 16 years old. Her father is a Filipino American citizen, a retired US Navy and lives in CA with his wife and 3 kids. We had no communication since my child was born in 1992 until 2006 but there was mention about child support. Can I still file for support even if I'm in the Philippines? Or do I need to go to the US to file? If ever, can I still ask for whatever is due my daughter since birth? Also, can I demand that he petition my daughter?

I'm not sure about the petition part. Yes, you should be able to file for child support. A lawyer or the US embassy may be able to help you.

I know next to NOTHING about international custody or if there is an agreement between the two parties to enforce child support if it is ordered. There is an ask an attorney section here for 10 us dollars.

i am a filipina living here in baguio city. i just want to give an advice regarding petition that u mentioned. i have a 16 yr old daughter too out of wedlock with a US NAVY man and i was able to process her papers at d US embassy when she was a year old. registered her as a US citizen, got her a US passport and a birth report abroad. if you got the necessary documents showing that your child was acknowledged by d father then u can also try to register ur child as well. i gave my opinion bcuz u mentioned about petition. if she will be registered then petition is not necessary and she would be able to go there anytime at d right time. i cant help u regarding support bcuz after i married the father of my daughter i too am seeking for advice on how to file for legal support. i hope i could be of help to u. i am also a filipina, and currently pregnant to my american boyfriend...we aren't married, but we ended up to nothing.he left me going back to kentucky USA and never communicate to me again..now, i want to ask if i can file for a child support when my baby is born?
