My 13 year old wants to live with me (Texas)

Texas. My 13 year old son wants to live with me. My understanding is that he can choose who he lives with in the State of Texas (where his mother lives as well). How does this whole thing work? I'm not in the position, financially, to hire an attorney, but I did handle my divorce myself and did pretty well. I think it's just a matter of being able to get whatever kind of hearing I need. The court here won't even tell me what age he has to be to decide. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He can't decide, he can state a preference.

You can hire a paralegal to help with forms, you'll need to file for a modification of custody - change of circumstances being age and the childs desire to live with you. I'm not sure HOW to do it though.
