What happens if i lose.

Hi everyone, my name is Dan.

On friday my girlfriend of 16 years left with my 3 children. She has said it's over and she's not coming back.

I am still hopeful we can work things out, but if not and it goes through court and i lose i am curious what the process is. Can i appeal ? Can i refile for custody.

She has been a non-existent mother in there lives for 10 years and i have done pretty much everything. The children are very attached to me (They are 7,8 & 10), and not so much to their mother. This will be devastating for them. i am worried that despite this, she will get custody just because she is the woman.

I plan to never stop fighting for them, but just wanted to start preparing for the worst.

I live in Ontario Canada if that matters any with regards to the law.

You really can't say she's non-existant if she's lived with them for the past 10yrs. You can say you've been primary caretaker.

You could file an emergency order for custody based on that....but I wouldn't hold high hopes. Your oldest child is getting to the point where the courts MAY consider the wishes of the child.

Cananda laws are different from US...fairly easy to find through google (though I don't have time to help with that too much now...)
