Contempt in Colorado: I'm awaiting for my disability to start.

i pay child support to my ex wife but as of 8 months ago i became hurt and my doctor labled me as disabled, i am currently awaiting for my disability to start. i have recieved a summons to appear in court for contempt for non payment of child support, i am not a dead beat dad i still get my children every weekend and my wife and i still buy them cloths and extras. my ex has agreed to drop the child support because she knows i cant work. but child support wont let up off my ass, i have a med 9 form filled out by my doctor, will this prove to the court that im not in contempt? ordoes my ex have to be in court to suport any claims ? please help im angry and confused at the system' do i need a lawyer anyway or will my medical papers prove it all? sincerly dad in pain in colorado

You need to (and should have already) contact the Child Support Agency or the courts to get your child support lowered.
You can do this now, and have your future support obligations reduced, but you cannot eliminate any arrears that have accumulated up to this point. Support reductions are not retroactive.
