Confused Child Support Jurisdiction

My husband's divorce was in Colorado, and child support was set there. His ex moved to North Dakota with the children and had the child support changed to ND. We live in NM and the NM child support agency is involved. Which state actually has jurisdiction and can make changes for us?

Child custody is where the child lived the previous 6 mo's. I would assume support to be the same but can't be sure.

For the six months prior to the court hearing.
Simply relocating, after jurisdiction has been established, does not change jurisdiction.

But...it can be transferred yes? And if so...to the county the child lives in or the payor?

You could probably call your local child support agency today and ask them whose jurisdiction child support would fall under. ??

There is a legal process that would need to be gone through to transfer jurisdiction, and the opposing party would have the right to object.
