I hope you can resolve this Jen and we all know that the child will be the number one affected in this situation. With that said, you should talk to your attorney and see what other options you have and talk to the mother as well and see if you can come up with a better arrangement. Being that the child is only 2 1/2 most likely the child needs to stay with the biological mother but it wouldn't hurt to explore all options available.
