Hi,my name is Ronel and I am from South Africa. I'm a single mother to my 3 year old son Jayden. when my son was only 4 months old my ex husband decided to cheat on me (Adultery). He was however a very abusive man meaning not physically but very emotionally . He loves to break a person down. He filed for a divorce in 2005, my son was only 6 months old then. We had an arrangement between ourselves that he should come and visit his son every second weekend on a Saturday in order for him to build up a relationship with his son but in the beginning the visits was regular but became less and less and less until he just made excuses. What I also need to mention is that my ex was also a heavy drinker. The last time when my ex husband came to see his son was in February 2008 as he wanted to take him away with him for the weekend and I refused to because he is not a very responsible father i.e. drinking, or he might pass out and who will then look after my son. I got fedup and went to his attorney and complained and told him what was really going on and he never knew that. And since the day of our divorce he has only paid me 8 months of child support thereafter nothing. I've went to the lawyer and I said to him that I am demanding that he must pay or he will not see his son and if he does it will be supervised visits. Was that wrong of me to do that because now he wants to come to an agreement between ourselves and I said no as I want it on paper stating supervised visits until my son is comfortable around his father. Because he never use to see him, he doesn't know who he is.
