Who gets Support..mother or child?

My son is 17 and was living with his Mother. The Order is that I pay her R2,000 pm.
In August 2008 my son left home and dropped out of College. His mother is refusing to give him his usual pocket money or assist with accommodation costs.
My son is now destitute, not working yet and needs money to survive immediately. Instead of paying his mother I am giving my son his R1000 pocket money and giving his girl-friend's mum (with whom he is living) R1000 for his care + I am paying all other bills now...mother pays for nothing at all.
Mother says I MUST pay her and she will keep it "In Trust" but refuses to give him a dime.....I am & keeping the Bank-deposit confirmation.
Is this ok as an urgent interim measure pending a formal review of the Order (which could take 6 months)?

Your son is 17 and has already dropped out of college?
Did he graduate high-school early?

Unfortunately, you need to continue paying the mother until you get a court order rescinding the support.
You need to motion the court to stop support payments based upon the fact that the mother is no longer caring for the child.
Is your support order supposed to end when your son turns 18, or does it extend beyond that?
If your son was living with you, you could get this changed much more easily.
