I had just finalized with the courts in June with regards to paternity/cs/parenting time. My X is the cp and I the ncp. We both work full time and I get standard ncp parenting time (EOW and Wednesdays) Now I had just found out that my X went back to school and is working all day and going to school at night. I would like to have the chance to get our son on the evenings she goes to school. We only live 10 mins from each other as transportation wouldn't be an issue. I am wondering if it would be too soon to ask for a change in parenting time? I haven't brought it up to her yet because "everything turns out to be a confrontation" with her. I had to have the court tell her to give me a copy of our sons birth certificate (to put him on my health insurance) and I now have to take her to court for her half of the DNA test cost (ordered by the court that she pay) that she is refusing to pay. So it will end up in a "confrontation". Everything is with her. But I guess I will ask her and if she says no then would this constitute a change in circumstances for me to ask the court for the time she is in school?

You could say...
"hey, I heard you were going back to school! That's great! I'll watch (insert name) while you're there if that would be OK. I'll pick him up and bring him back." Send it in a txt message if that's an option. It might be worth a shot. School isn't forever. I don't THINK it would qualify as a change significant enough to require a modification. Anybody have actual experience with this type of situation? |
