COURT ORDERED MEDICAL COST REIMBURSEMENT

I have custody of my grandchild and there is court ordered child support from the father along with 50% reimbursement of unreimbursed medical and dental bills. I have sent these bills to him on 3 occasions (via registered mail) and have had no response. He does not accept the mail and refused to communicate with me. He also refuses to communicate with the 14 yo child whose mother passed away on 24 Dec. 50% of the bills amount to $3,500. I know I should bring this to court but an attorney would eat up the amount I am owed. Question - would the judge order father to pay my legal fees, charge the father with contemp of court or what would happen???

The judge may order him to pay the attorney fees, but there is no guarantee.

You can file contempt against him yourself. It is a relatively simple motion to file, and you can use copies of other motions in your case as examples of how to format it.

Be aware that contempt is a civil charge and the father will have the right to a court appointed attorney to defend himself if he cannot afford one on his own. Nevertheless, you don't actually need to win the contempt case (the first time) in order to get the court's attention.
