Cool CHILD SUPPORT (STATE OF TEXAS)

I WAS TOLD THAT IN THE STATE OF TEXAS A FATHER CAN NOT SIGN AWAY FINANCIAL RIGHTS TO A CHILD. I CONTACTED A LAW OFFICE HERE FOR THE FREE CONSULT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IS NOT THE LAW. EACH CASE IF DIFFERENT AND DEPENDING ON THE MOTHERS INCOME, THE STATE WOULD DECIDE IF THE MOTHER CAN SUPPORT THE CHILD HIS WHOLE LIFE WITHOUT EVER REQUIRING STATE AID BEFORE ALLOWING A FATHER TO SIGN AWAY RIGHTS TO SUPPORT HIS CHILD. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE EXACT LAW IS? HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR SON AND I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM. BUT HE INFORMED ME IF HE CAN'T WALK AWAY FINANCIALLY HE WILL FIGHT FOR VISITATIONS.

Ask the attorney to name the last case they knew of where a father was able to simply "sign away" both his rights and his financial responsibilities.

This is, of course, and empty threat. As you are surely aware, taking care of children requires a lot of work and dedication. If he is truly uninterested in having a relationship with the children he is not going to go through with visitations just for spite. Not for very long, at least.

The father cannot just sign away his rights and duties. The law wants two parents always unless a danger to the child.

Cool Re: CHILD SUPPORT

SHE GAVE ME NO CASES. SHE SIMPLY SAID, EVERY CASE WAS DIFFERENT AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL MAY ALLOW THE FATHER TO SIMPLY WALK AWAY. I LEFT AFTER THAT.

The child custody agreement you reach is vitally important to your child's security and well being. Even if your family chooses shared custody it is still essential to have a clear child custody agreement that spells out arrangements for holidays, birthdays, and summer breaks. The more specific the language in the child custody agreement, the less likely it is that there will be problems later.

That's a load of crap. As if the Attorney General was going to get involved in your case...
Please, go consult with a different attorney.
