private therapist acting as 'officer of the court'
Can an appointed officer of the court (a private therapist) be sued for negligence/perversity of decision making in a custody matter? What sort of protection do, or might, such a person have from that type of role?

It is very difficult to do as they have virtually the same immunity level as the judge; but fraud, gross negligence and the like can open the door to a suit. It does happen. WLD has been involved in such suits in the past. You could also email them on the home page.
