Question Seeking additional child support-is it a good idea?

My ex-husband and I have been divorced for 8 years, but together we have 2 children, 9 and 6 1/2. When we divorced, we only had the one and the amount that was granted was $617/month for one child. I have remarried and together my new husband and I have a 10month old. My ex has never paid anything for the 6 year old, nor has he contributed anything towards her extensive medical expenses (including adding her to his health insurance as a secondary for mine). He is currently making union scale as a heavy equipment operator, approx 33.00 hour and working 60 hours per week. He just purchased a new home for 190,000 dollars, and my husband and I don't live at all that extravagantly. I make 60,000 per year before taxes, and my husband about 30,000. Would it be worthwhile to retain a lawyer and have his figure recalculated to include the 6 year old including the last 6 years? Or should I just be satisfied with the amount that I currently get?

I would recomend you to go to the "child services department" in your town and ask them, they are funded by the state and will give you the advise you need.

Has your ex been paying the $617 per month?
