ABANDONMENT

I am wondering what is the requirements in Ontario, Canada for a parent abandoning their child. I have heard 1 yr with not seeing the child. If there is any phone contact with the child does this count for having contact. My partner who is the father of my child lives in London, England and has not seen his daughter for over 1 yr now and I cannot find him to serve him with custody papers. Abandonment might be my only hope. Any information on this would greatly be appreciated.

You will have to go back to court to get an order changed but one year itself is not likely to permit him from ever seeing her again. Courts want parents to return if possible.

i know this post is old and everything but my daughter hasnt had any support from her father since last summer we've only been seperated for about 6 months but my abandonment hearing is tonight and last time i talked to the judge he seemed pretty positive about my case so good luck to you

I was told by a lawyer that you can have a person served so to speak, by having a notice of the court hearing, etc put in the newspaper of the town that you believe he is in. The notice would have to be run in the paper for maybe a month, but if there is no response than things fall in your favor. Hope this can be of help if it's not too late. let me know how this abandonment my husband said he will join us when i left to come back home to africa as we are both canadian we had our child there but he has not seen his son or supported us in any way for the 9 months my son is now 10 months old
