Confused custody and support

My husband is divorcing me and wants me to agree to joint custody. I have been a stay at home mom for 4 years and I am currently a student. I am not employed so have no income. I live in the state of florida. If he gets joint custody does this mean he will not have to pay support for his children?

Joint custody, or "shared parenting", generally has little effect on child support. That should put your mind at ease, since apparently the amount of money you are going to get out of him is your primary concern.

EEK! Re: custody and support

No acctually I have decided not to ask for any money from him. All I want is to make sure that he does not run off with my children. My anger is what caused me to want money, now my heart just wants this to be as easy as possible. For me and my children.

Depending upon your different incomes, you may be entitled to support, and if so then you should pursue it. Remember, it is you child's money, not yours, so think twice before you decide not to accept it on her behalf.
It should NOT, however, be your primary consideration, and I am glad to hear that is not your attitude.
If you end up with a joint custody arrangement he will not be able to run off with your children.
