I left a violent relationship 4 years ago but my ex kept the children he just physically wouldnt let me take them and i was scared of him i have always felt this was the wrong decision i miss them both terribly and now i feel my youngest is suffering as she is not doing well at school she cant read or right and doesnt know her alphabet she is 7 and he cant help her as he is dyslexic and she always has sores on her head from headlice.Neither of us has custody legally so could i just keep her with me? say when i next pick them up.Also i dont like the idea of 2 girls living with their dad i personally dont just trust him i have my reasons but i never reported anything to the police, my child eldest is 10 now.I worry about going to court with this rights for fathers thing now,Please can you give me an honest opinion on this many thanks as i just dont know what to do for the best.we were married and in the u.k.

"this rights for fathers thing"?
Is that anything like "this votes for Black's thing"? If you are still legally married you can file for divorce and request custody, but you face an uphill battle proving you should be the custodial parent when he has been caring for the children up 'till now. This rights for fathers thing...give me a f'in' break. |

Were you married at the time the children were born? If not was paternity established to make him the legal father?

either way. you said you're still married now right? yes-you CAN keep them both with you. since you neither have custody so there are no laws you're breaking. just don't take off with them. call the police and let them know. call d.s.s. and file a neglect complaint. if you're daughter is 7 there are SOOO many things wrong with this. she needs help ASAP!!! this age is VITAL and she needs to see a psychologist. RIGHT AWAY.
T: did you read the above? I *KNOW* there are issues w/ the "father's..." statements but you have to read the rest. OF COURSE she doesn't want him to have them. she shouldn't let him. a 7 yr old who can't read or write? my daughter is 2 and knows her numbers, letters, go, stop, slow, ALL colors, her name, how to write her name, etc etc...she can tell you ANYTHING you want to know. she even knows spanish & sign. you can NOT tell me that she doesn't deserve the chance to give her kids a great life. obviously the dad isn't going to do it...so there needs to be intervention. Good luck to you honey. If you need to represent yourself (lack of $ for an attorney) there are TONS of web pages on state laws, etc...even for uk. good luck. |

Yes, I read the whole post, but you should always be aware that we are only being given one side of the story.
