Question what can my inlaws legally do?

My inlaws have made it very clear to my husband that if i mess up in any way at all with our daughter they will take me to court and try to take our daughter from me. I have been separated from my husband for a year and have taken care of our very young daughter while being a full time student. I am just wondering if there is anything that could make it possible for them to take her away from me. Thank you.

Slim to none. First of all, they would have to have very concrete proof that you were neglecting your child in any way.

They could fight for grandparents rights if you choose to keep the child away from them, but even those are minimal. Atleast in my state. Where I live, grand parent rights are 1 hour a month... Hardly worth a legal battle.

What does your husband say about all of this? Is it okay to him that his parents are vile?

I say, you do what you do. Continue taking care of your little girl. Get your education and do not let the hatefulness your in laws are spewing get you down.

Good luck!

I think you should stand up to these people and tell them that you want them to have a positive relationship with their grandchildren, and that for this to happen they need to work WITH you, and not AGAINST you.
Let them know, in no uncertain terms, that the better their relationships is with you, the better will be their relationship with their grandchild.
