Default Child Support Collection Agency?

I am posting on behalf of my wife who was recently(6 months or so ago) granted a judgment for just over $25,000 in back child support along with a court order for another approximately $458/month going forward. Her ex has began the process of hiding assets (Taking his name off the house/cars/etc into his new wifes name, changing jobs, etc) to avoid liens and garnishments. He and his new family live in Michigan and we live in Oklahoma.

The state of Oklahoma has said point blank that although they do have resources at their disposal, they just don't have time to use them and not to expect anything unless he somehow has a sudden change of heart.

I would like to know if anyone has any direct experience with private Child Support Collection Agencies...and if so if would you be willing to share them with me. We understand the fees but also feel that 65-75% of any money collected is better than what she is collecting now. We have pretty much decided to go in this direction but I am having a hard time researching companies collection rate, comparing fees/contracts, etc.

Any input you can give me will be appreciated.

[just over $25,000 in back child support ]

You can get the DA to start criminal law proceedings for that amount and he will be arrested if he does not pay. And he will sit in jail until he finds a way to pay. Ask the DA to issue a felony warrant.

We tried that.

Calls to the Michigan DA's office were referred to the Michigan Child Support Enforcement Authority who then referred us back to the State of Oklahoma who said there was nothing they could do.

My little brother is a Deputy US Marshall and he is looking into getting a Federal DA to file under The Child Support Recovery Act of 1992 and The Deadbeat Parents Punishment Act but doubt he will be able to get anywhere without cooperation from the states involved who just don't seem interested in helping.

Oh, and I was wrong in my initial post. The back child support was awarded in May 2007 so it has now been owing for over a year.

Good luck with the system, I have found nothing to help in my case. I am owed several thousands of dollars, have a felony warrent in place, and have basically been told they have bigger things to worry about. My ex currently lives in a different state and it would be up to the prosecutor of my county who put the felony warrent in place to pay fees to bring him back to Michigan and I have been told by the Attorney Generals office that just don't happen. I to am now at the point of hiring a collection agency. If you learn of any other way I would be very interested.

We hired one a few days ago. In addition, my little brother is a Deputy U.S. Marshall and he is going to see if he can talk the Federal Prosecutor in our area to review the case. No real hope but not giving up yet.
