This is your advice for them to sit on their butt, be patient. Im sorry but that is not right. The first thing a good lawyer will tell a mother when seperating is to get herself in a parental class ( preferably on that deals with working with children when seperating). Then they tell them that if they have any faults that the husband may use against her she should possibly go to a councellor and work on those, so that if the husband does use those against her she can argie that she is making a huge effort to change her shortcoming as a mother and as a person, so that her child will have the best care possible. You see thats the problem, men are told to sit, be patient, get support from family.............unfortunatley the courts will see that as him making no effort to putting his child first. I sure hope you are not a lawyer

Are you a father who lost custody of his children?

I am a father who won custody of his children, and had the decisions of my local court overturned twice by arguing my own case before the Court Of Appeals.
Over the past 20 years I have been held the rolse of unwed father, wed father, non-custodial parent, non-residential parent, custodial parent, and residential parent.
I know what I am talking about.
You, however, are full of crap.
I have never know a lawyer to tell a mother to take parenting classes just for the sake of show. But if you get as hysterical and irrational with your children as you do on these forums, then I suppose I could understand if your attorney made such a recommendation to you. Perhaps you could use a refresher course?

I do not believe I am being irrational or hysterical, and I am 100% not full of crap, oviously you did alot of research and out alot of effort into getting your custody of your children. It doesn't sound like you just sat around and waited. It sounds more like you took action right away. let me know if i am wrong. I am just confused because you put so much work into your fight, yet you tell others to wait. I suppose every court is the same and all judges see things the same way, well at least i hope for the sake of all those you give advice to.

Rights
HARD-HITTING AND FAIR ADVICE FOR EVERY FATHER INVOLVED IN A CUSTODY DISPUTE
Millions of fathers are currently embroiled in the fight of their lives to win custody of their children. Wounded by the acrimony and greed that often accompany divorce proceedings, many wonder if they will ever again be an important part of their sons’ and daughters’ lives. With this landmark book, renowned men’s rights attorney Jeffery M. Leving offers disenfranchised fathers true hope and meaningful advice certain to save years of anguish and possibly thousands of dollars.
Drawing on more than twenty years of front-line experience, Leving leads fathers through every twist and turn of the legal system and shows them how to protect their rights (and their children’s) - both before and during divorce litigation.
This authoritative and accessible book covers every aspect of the custody process, including protecting the parent/child relationship as a breakup occurs; finding an competent and sympathetic lawyer; drafting a “Shared Parenting Agreement”; demonstrating parental competence when falsely accused of abuse; avoiding parental alienation; determining when to settle and when to litigate; techniques for dealing effectively with psychologists, social workers, and other domestic relations experts; and much more.
Illustrated with vivid, real-life examples, Jeffery Leving and Kenneth Dachman’s practical guide is essential reading for scores of American fathers routinely excluded from their children’s lives by a biased legal system in which avarice and recrimination too often overwhelm compassion and justice.
Find an effective and empathetic attorney
Stay in control of your emotions
Avoid unfavorable custody arrangements
Protect your relationship with your child
Overcome the “tender years” bias
Craft a “Shared Parenting Agreement”
Make allies of psychologists, social workers &
arbitrators

You are being irrational and hysterical by reading posts carelessly, jumping to unfounded conclusions, and accusing people of saying things they did not say. Such as...

Where do I tell others to wait? Are you even able to read?
Please stop accusing people of saying things they did not say. This has passed beyond funny and is now just becoming pathetic.
You are not just confused You are not very smart.
Please, for your own sake, stop embarrassing yourself.

you have got to be kidding me. a woman should immedialtely go to counseling to deal with her faults before she goes to court so the husband cant use it against her!?!?!?!
why the hell not put that much effort into the marriage before it goes to court?
i have never heard of any lawyer telling a man or a woman that they need to go to parenting classes or counseling. if you were told to do so, there was a reason. if your lawyer told you that they told all their clients to do this, they were softening the blow to you. if you are a lawyer, well, what can i say but "oh hell"
p.s. i know what i wrote so if you are going to quote me, do it correctly

Oh my god, did any of you actually read the article I just posted about fathers involved in a custody battle.........it's not something i made up, or pulled out of my arse, its an actual factual article and oh my god what does it say make allies with psychologist etc. When its comes to gaining custody of your children, you don't always have the time to be patient and wait around for answers. You just oviously don't understand, nor do you wish to even try to understand.....so I'm done. If you see something I post and do not agree to it...........just don't respond to me directly..............keep your advice to those who are asking for it and I will do the same..........If you even have the ability to restrain yoyrself from childish name calling and assumptions

You did not post a link to the source of the article so that we could verify it.
Plus, the internet is full of articles about every topic imaginable, often contradicting eachother. Your citing an article does not make it an authority.

i am sure that if you had cited an article or paper or even put a link, we would have responded differently. you didnt. you continued to post defending it and, again, never mentioned an article. how are we supposed to know.
