My boyfriend has a son out of wedlock with his ex, who left him a few months after the baby was born and moved to another state, now she has filed for child support, which he has no problem paying. The problem is that she does not want to allow him to see his son,. Can my boyfriend file for visatation rights or joint custody of his son even if we do not live in the same state as his ex, and if yes how do we go about it.

Yes.
He will need to file a motion to be granted visitation rights. He will need to file this motion in the State where the child is a resident. |
