loophole?
If a minor is leaves home without their parents consent and goes to live with a friend or boyfriend who is over 18, can the parents still press kidnapping charges on the supplier when the minor turns 18?

How is it kidnapping at all if the child is there voluntarily and is not prevented from leaving?

Re: loophole?
The parents can report the minor as missing even if they know where he/she is and can press charges on the supplier for housing a runaway or kidnapping.

I highly doubt if someone can be charged with kidnapping for providing shelter to an underage child. The child is there voluntarily, is not prevented from leaving, and the child's parents know where she is.

Your right I they can't charge for kidnapping but housing a runaway is illegal, but my problem is that the person is 17, they will be 18 in june and the parents know that the person is with me and they are threatening to press charges, I think there is a loophole voiding the charges when the person turns 18.

As long as you are not preventing the parents from retrieving the child, I don't see how they can do anything. I just don't see how any court would convict for not kicking a child out of your house.

I may be wrong (and trust me, if i am, somone will correct me) i think the only charges they can press against you are for statuatory rape. the parents can make your life hell by sending the police over there all the time but as far as anything illegal, that is it.
