I live in Pa.
I understand the age in which a child's wish to live with the other parent is . But is there an age when the child doesnt want to visit the parent who is court ordered to see every other weekend? Her father is saying she can technically do what she wants and he cant stop her. |

There is the law, and there is practicality.
Who's responsibility is it to pick up the child? The other parent can encourage the child to participate in the visitation, but forcing a teenager to go on a visit when they do not want to is just going to cause resentment. What needs to happen is that the parent and the child need to sit down together and talk about what is at the root of the child's refusal to visit, and decide what can be done to make the visits more enjoyable and enriching. |

I agree. I don't want to cause resentment. I truly believe this is just a case of a teenager being let to make any decision she wants with anything. She has way too much freedom and takes advantage of everyone. Because her father tells her she doesnt have to see me (because of her age..she can do what she wants), that doesnt help. This time in her life, friends are everything and parents suck. I know, ive been there and sure im not the only one. I have a decent stable home. As you have read my previous posts, Ive raised my girls up until 2 years ago when they wanted to live with dad. Where she is now is a bit more laid back, whereas im a little stricter and dont always let them have what they want. Anyhow, I will be talking with her this weekend. I want a happy child. Just if its not a legit reason, i see no reason why we should stop visits.

Talk to the girl and her father about a more flexible visitation schedule. Offer to take her and a friend or friends out to the movies, or a concert or something.
