We live in Indiana. My granddaughter's mother has not bothered to see her since 6/19/2006. She has paid support 4 times from 1/07-2/07. One of those payments was for $1.98 and one was for 98 cents. She was suppose to be paying $65 a week plus $25 until $700 in arreage was made up, she paid none of this.

This woman made it clear that she never wanted to be a mother. She told people on more than one occasion that she would have had an abortion if she could have found the money and that she wished someone would get kicked in the stomach and a fall down the stairs.

My son has raised his daughter. He even went as far as married the girl and tried to make a go of it. She really never bonded with the child and made it clear she did not want to be a mother. The reason that he divorced her was he found out she was having an affair with his so called best friend.

How long can a parent go without seeing their child until it is considered abandament?

It may affect their right to force visitation, but the courts are pretty tolerant if the parent wants to try to resume the relationship.

Courts normally prefer the parents to be involved if possible.
