my attorney probably could if i had the right attorney, mine just wants to get the case over with because he knows my funds are limited so he isnt going to waste time on motions and going that extra mile for me or worrying about the best interest of my kids. he's letting my ex's attorney run the show cuz he's all about the money and is pretty much being useless to me right now.

There are cheap attorneys out there who have no interest in arguing a case. They merely want to fill out the party's names on boilerplate motions, submit them to the court, and eat up their retainer.
If your case has anything unusual about it, or is contested, you do NOT want one of these attorneys. Either dump him and get a new one, or take charge of your case and start telling him what to do instead of asking what you should do.
