Question Were my rights reinstated when she violated the court order?

Back in 1997 my parental rights were revoked. Per court order. The order stated that no contact untilmy daughter is 18. Her mother started talking to me 5 years ago and reintroduced me back into my daughters life. My question is, were my rights reinstated when she violated the court order? Or should I petition the court to get them reinstated?

Only the court can change court orders. The mother cannot change them, and she may be in violation of them herself for allowing contact between you and your daughter.
Petition the court to have the orders rescinded.

Thumbs Up Re: Parental Rights

thank you I appreciate that, I am going to go to courthouse to do what I have to to get my rights re-established so that my daughter can make a choice whether to live with whoever she wants. She is old enough to choose.

Thank you for the info, I just checked with the records dept for the county that handled this matter, there is no copy anywhere in the system stating that my rights were revoked. If there is a copy the mother may have it, but she will have to produce it for the court and the courts will have to research the document so that there may a ruling on it.

Default Re: Parental Rights

When my rights were supposedly revoked, I was living in texas. I thought that I had recieved paperwork stating that they were revoked. But in the process of moving back to florida and subsequent seperation from my wife. I lost those papers. My daughters mother has been saying this for the last five years. After she let our daughter stayed with me for a week, she expressed the wish to come live with me. And this has led me to start the process to get custody of her. And in the course of events, I have since found that there is no record anywhere in the records of them being revoked. The only court document that I have found is establishment of paternity. Beyond that the courts have no other records involving our case.
