Can He Not Have To Pay?
The father of my daughter recently confessed to having a large number of children. He says that if you have a certain amount of children, you do not have to pay child support. He is currently paying his wife and he is trying to get out of it. Is this true? I too would like to take him for child support, but if it means that he will not have to pay any of us, then I am willing to leave it alone. No point in all of his children not being provided for. Please, if anyone knows the answer, let me know.

I'm guessing that the father is probably not the best person for you to be getting your legal advice....
He is responsible for financially supporting all of his children. If you are on welfare, you can be dang sure the State will go after him to recoup any money they send to you. There may be legal limits on the total amount of his income that can be taken for child support (50%?), so it is possible that his other children may receive less support, or that you may only get a token amount. Regardless, insist upon getting support anyway. It is for your child, not for you. |
