Angry Father Wants to Be involved but...

I am a 25 yr old father of a beautiful little girl. She was concieved out of wedlock and on much alcohal. I fully accept my reponsibility and want to be in her life. The prople is that I am Active Duty Air Force and have spent most of her like 4 out of 7 months deployed. I am finding out through attornies my father has talked to on my behalf that due to the fact I wasn't around I will not have rights other than supervised visits for a while, and even then once I get out of the AF in the summer of 2009 may not get more that every other weekend. I would like 50-50 custody but the mother has been manipulative and tried to accuse me of drug/alcohal abuse in the past. Is it true that because I haven't been able to live near her I will not get decent visitation and or un-supervised for a few years once I get back. Thank you.

Child support will most likely be based upon your total income.
The fact that you were, through no fault of your own, unable to have a significant relationships with your child these last few years should not impact whether you have to have supervised visits. However, if the child is not familiar with you then for her sake you should make the first visits brief, and in the company of her mother.
Your chances of getting 50/50 custody are practically zilch.
