Confused Out-of-state move

HELP NEEDED! My ex-girlfriend who I have a 3 year old daughter with had been ignoring me for months and I haven't seen my daughter since last March. I just found out yesterday that she recently was married and moved out of state and I don't know where! We had no prior visitation arrangement by the court. What can I do?!

You can file for visitation in your local court. She will try to have the case moved to her jurisdiction, so the longer you wait the more likely she will be to succeed.

You should have done this years ago.

Are you paying child support? If not, filing for visitation will probably trigger that as well. If you are paying support, what idiot attorney did you have that did not arrangement a visitation order at that time?

Well, I was seeing her at least 2 times a week after we split up. So, I thought we never needed an arrangement by the court. But, the mother would only let me see her if she was around or if we were at her mother's house. Once I tried to take her without her supervision, that's when everything went downhill. I also don't have the money to get a lawyer let alone afford a consultation.

There are no laws saying you have to have an attorney to file a court case.

It would be good if you could find some examples of court filings so you could put yours in the proper format.

If you file an affidavit you will need to have it notarized. Most banks have a Notary Public on staff at all times, and provide this service for free to their depositors.
