Question Never went to Court? Ex's Mother took off with son!

On October 29th, 2005 I moved back to Fairbanks, Alaska from Colorado Springs, CO. My ex and my son were living at her Mother’s house there. The agreement when we left was that I was going to move back to Alaska and we were going to work things out.
After I got back to Alaska, I got a job and was going to get into an apartment so that my ex and my son could move back up here. Well a couple weeks later, my ex called me and said that she got drunk and decided that she was a lesbian and that she would not come back.
I kept in contact with them until July of 2006. I called their number and the number was disconnected. I then called her cell and apparently it was also disconnected. She emailed me pictures of my son on July 11th, 2006. That was the last I heard or saw anything to do with my son.
She had moved out of her Mother's house and was asking me to sign my legal rights as the father over to her mother. I refused to do so. She signed her rights over and never got my half of it. We never had anything done in court; there was no court order or anything. I found out later that her Mother has moved with my son to Hannover, PA.
I did not give her permission to take my son anywhere. For her to deny me contact with my son, a number or address to even call my son or send him gifts. I have not basically heard from my son since the night of October 28th when I went to see him.
At the time I did drink and had an alcohol problem. However since then I have straightened out my life. I'm a full time student of University Of Phoenix, AXIA online college, I work full time, I'm getting married in June, I have found my real Father, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Grandma after almost 25 years of not knowing them. I do not drink at all anymore and haven't in quite some time now.
I would like to be a part of my son's life. I would like to be able to take my son back from his grandma. My ex never left me any option of having my son at all. She refuses to take care of our son so she gave him to her Mother who is running from me.
I would like to know if there are any charges that I can press against her and her husband; can I get my son back? What are the steps that I can take and what are the chances of me getting my son back? Please get back to me A.S.A.P. and let me know.

Thanks, From a Loving, Hurt Father. I miss my son Zaccheus Michael Nolan.

This is a matter that i've been trying to deal with since it happened but until recently did not know that I could press charges etc... Please help

It would seem you may want to file in court and get custody fixed and have an enforceable order you can rely on. The courts do want both parents to see the kids and will work hard to make sure that that happens.
