The Daughter I never knew...

Hi, I received a call last week from a girl claiming to be my daughter, she had details about her mother that I have confirmed to be correct, in other words, it is very possible that she is in fact, my daughter.

she says she wants nothing from except to meet me, (she is now 24) and I had no idea her mother was ever pregnant, let alone that the child was mine.

Are there downsides to meeting her?....I mean can they come after me for years of back support?
...and whatever other negatives there might be to all this?

I believe they could'nt do anything much more anymore, unless you've signed the papers that you were. But, as you mentioned that you were not aware at the time that she was pregnant!

Its conceivable (no pun intended) that the State could come after you for back support if the child received welfare or some other State funds while she was growing up. But I'm doubtful they would do so at this late point in time, and they could frankly do this whether you met with her or not.
So what you choose to do should be a personal decision, not financial or legal.
