Father missing son.
I am in the military, and currently living in VA. My son lives with his mother in IL. We were never married, when she was pregnant she was supposed to come live with me but she bailed. My son will be 3 in june. I have only seen my son a couple of times. The longest for one month. what I want to know if do I have to go to IL to get custody or do I get a lawyer in VA and do it that way? Help please.

just from my personal knowledge you have to file anything regarding your child in the court where he resides.

You are not going to get custody. But you should be able to get a visitation schedule.
You will need to file in the county of the state where your son resides. You do not need to travel there to file, but you will need to travel there for the court hearing. |
