My child had a brain tumor in 03 and it was removed. Her father had beaten her at that time, and is now in prison on 2 class x charges. He doesn't pay any support, doesn't have insurance and doesn't help with medical bills, and he was court odered to do so. I am now married and my husband put my child under his insurance because I could not get any help and I work at a job that I cannot get insurance. My husband is now being sued of some of her medical bills, that we cannot afford to pay. He has a good job but with no help from my childs father we have a definite hardship. Can I do anything?

Well, the biological father is legally obligated to pay support (assuming there is a support order) whether he is in prison or not. But you can't get blood from a stone, and if he has no money there is not much you can do.
See if you qualify for any government medical assistance. I bet the hospital would have counselors that could steer you to the right agencies. |
