Can they take my tax money?
My ex was trying to fight me on claiming our child on taxes for 2007. The divorce papers say I get odd years. My ex owes the IRS so therefore wants to use our child to try to get himself out of a hole. I have custody of our child and he owes me $3,000 in child support. I filed my taxes before he did and claimed our child. I received the money back for our child but now I received a notice from Financial Management Services (the people who issue the money to the IRS) saying that I may have to pay money back for child support not paid. I pay EVERYTHING for my child and my ex hardly even takes him when it's time for his visitation. Why are they saying I may owe money for child support?

It is not quite clear why based on what you say here.
You may want to ask them for an explanation in writing to start. |
