Exclamation John

My elderly parents were in an accident in England last summer when a truck hit the car in which they were passengers. The driver of the truck has admitted negligence. Although they were not physically damaged in a significant way, my father had to receive oxygen at the scene and both of them were very stiff and sore for a long time.

My mother has had a personality change since then and is very erratic in a number of ways. Examples are that she doesn't sleep or eat properly and she won't get into cars anymore. She tried to on a few occasions, but ended up pressuring the driver with constant jumps and shouts. The situation seems to be getting worse with her instead of better. My father has been very frail since and his health has deteriorated.

I think they have post traumatic stress disorder. The insurance company of the driver put pressure on them to deal with their own solicitor. I think these solicitors have no intention of looking out for their interests.

Should they find their own legal representation? Do they have a case against the driver of the truck for affecting their mental health? What advice do they need?

That solicitor for the insurance company of the driver that hit your parents is not going to look after your parents' interests. If that is what you are asking.

It would be a very good idea to have your own counsel involved.
